Radon in your Home
Radon is an odourless, colourless, tasteless gas that occurs naturally in rocks and soils, and may become trapped inside buildings, particularly during the winter heating season. Long-term exposure to radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in Canada. Testing for radon is a relatively simple procedure for a single family dwelling.
Considerations in establishing testing protocols include occupancy patterns within rooms, and the proximity of the device to the floor, walls, ceiling, other objects and mechanical systems in the test area.
It is recommended that certified radon professionals registered with either the Canadian National Radon Proficiency Program (C-NRPP) conduct the testing.
Radon Testing & Mitigation
Radon concentrations vary significantly in a building from hour to hour, day to day and even more so from season to season. As a result, long-term tests are better at estimating the annual average radon concentration in a building. Long-term Radon tests range from 91 days to 1 year in length, and are minimally invasive, taking up no more room than a cup of coffee.
Pinchin is pleased to offer in-house analysis for radon.
Individual radon testing devices are being offered at $80.00 plus shipping and applicable taxes. If you prefer, you can pick up your devices directly from our radon staff at our Mississauga Head Office or Winnipeg Office.
Both short and long-term test kits are available, however, long-term testing is strongly recommended. Please use the form below to send us your request.
NEED A GUIDE TO LET THEM KNOW HOW MANY KITS TO PURCHASE FOR TESTING
In order to obtain your final test results, testing devices must be returned to Pinchin at the end of the test period. A completed Chain of Custody Form must accompany all kits.
